Rethinking an Apple, Samsung and accessories area
For the 2026 back-to-school period, I led most of a reorganisation of the Apple, Samsung and accessories area, with support from the store director. The plan had to incorporate an Apple requirement while remaining compatible with the actual furniture, power supply, anti-theft equipment and physical constraints of the store.
The story
The starting point was an Apple requirement for four linear metres of accessories, combined with the store's back-to-school preparation. The existing area mixed several product families and parts of the connected-watch offer were not easy to identify.
I reorganised the space, separated Apple accessories more clearly from universal products, grouped Samsung watches into a more coherent area and opened up a watch section that had previously been difficult to see.
The central plan could not simply be applied as drawn. Available power points, the reality of the furniture and security boxes that were larger than expected all required adjustments. I made those trade-offs as the work progressed so that the intended logic remained intact without creating an installation that would be impractical to maintain.
The transformation took most of a long working day, close to ten hours, across dismantling, moving fixtures, securing products, resetting ranges and completing final checks. The aim was not a short-lived visual effect, but a clearer customer journey and an area that would remain coherent for the team to operate.
This recent project reflects a method I use regularly: understand the objective, observe the space, identify what cannot work as planned, adapt the solution and carry it through to completion. The other merchandising examples shown alongside it document the same approach in different store contexts.
What I take from it
Take a requirement, understand what it means in the real environment and build a clear, safe and maintainable solution rather than applying a plan mechanically.
